A month into 2023 already? Damn. Although keeping logs like this and having interesting things to do makes the days go slower.
New Updates on StretcherDrill 🔗
I worked on cleaning up the spaghetti code and adding new features to the game through the course of the month. The new levels aren't quite ready yet but I plan to push the update out to the public by mid-February or so. It does look really better now compared to the Gamejam version. Players will be able to directly jump to the next level without having to use the level select screen. To make up for the fact that the players will no longer be able to read the story on the level select, I've added dialogue sequences and NPCs into the game. Hopefully they won't be too intrusive with the skip button available.
I'll probably be making a video or an article about autotiling in Godot shortly.
Website Code Cleanup 🔗
This is a pretty long overdue task. The admin tools that I've made on the website have sucked since day one, and I haven't gotten around to fixing minor bugs or add new features like the project page either. I'll be working on this through February.
Future Plans 🔗
On YouTube 🔗
I think I'm realising that creating content that has no relation to existing content or culture isn't the best way to get views or attention. I'll try to make something based on things that are "fairly popular," a very hard task to do for someone who is basically a hermit on the internet. But I do have a few things in mind that I can do. Let's see.
I've also said earlier that I wanted to start a video series with a common-ish topic. I think it's about time that I gave it serious thought now. It may involve more stuff made in Godot, but I don't know.
Everything Else 🔗
I have a one long-term project planned that I want to at least bring into a showcaseable state within this year. Hopefully the long deadline is enough and I don't start sleeping on it midway. There's also the the Blender OpenMPT wrapper that I need to work on, but I don't think I can finish it by Febuary.
Closing Words 🔗
It's been about half a year since I launched this website. While it hasn't been a success yet. I'm happy that I'm sticking to it. Not really happy about other things though, like my output and growth. Hopefully it will change in the future.
